Mentorship
Introduction
AIChE's mentorship program, established in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, was developed as a way to build department relationships and strengthen the connections between the students. The program hopes to develop professionals and academics, by sharing information and advice between older chemical engineering students and younger ones. Aiming to enrich not only the experience of the mentees, the program also is designed to give the mentors an enriching experience by helping them develop their leadership and communication skills. Through this program, AIChE hopes to make each student feel supported as they embark on their chemical engineering journey here at UCI.
Program Overview
The program, while strutured by the AIChE board, will allow for freedom and flexibility to be determined by the mentor-mentee groups. The mentorship head will determine the program's theme for the quarter, but individual goals and progress checks will be decided upon and maintained by the participants themselves. This ensures that the program is tailored to each student's needs at the time and is able to accommodate everyone possible. Specific mentorship events will also be held to help students continue to strengthen their relationships within the department and also give structured time for the groups to meet and bond together.
