1. Chem-E-Jeopardy
The Chem-E-Jeopardy is a trivia competition where teams compete to answer chemical engineering-related questions across various categories. The participants will be presented with a clue, and they must answer in the form of a question.
Rules
- We have a limit of 8 teams. Four teams are randomly selected to compete against each other in the first round, the remaining four will compete against each other in the second round, and the winning team from each round will compete against the other in the third and final round.
- Each team must consist of 4 players maximum.
- Points are deducted for incorrect answers.
- Points are deducted if the response is not given in the form of a question.
- Participants can only buzz once the moderator finishes reading the clue.
- Participants once provide a response 5 seconds within buzzing.
- In case of a tie, a tiebreaker question is asked. The team with the correct answer wins.
Prizes
- 1st place: 200$
- 2nd place: 100$
2. Student Technical Presentation Competition (STPC)
The Student Technical Presentation Competition allows participants to deliver a technical presentation on a chemical engineering topic or subtopic (like material science, bioengineering, sustainability, etc.) of their choice, demonstrating their ability to clearly communicate complex concepts.
Rules
- Participating members must be undergraduate students and must submit the presentation title and abstract during registration.
- Although the presented project/paper can have multiple authors, only one presenter is allowed.
- The presentation time limit is 6 minutes, followed by 2-3 minutes for Q&A.
- A panel of judges (chemical engineering professors or academic professionals) will evaluate the presentation according to criteria, including nonverbal and verbal skills, the technical content, and the ability to follow the time limit.
Prizes
- 1st place: 200$
- 2nd place: 100$
- 3rd place: 50$
3. Research Poster Competition
The Research Poster Competition allows participants to share their work in a visual format while engaging with attendees and judges and discussing their work. The poster topic can encompass various chemical engineering topics and subtopics (like material science, bioengineering, sustainability etc.)
Rules
- Participating members must be undergraduate students and must submit the presentation title and abstract during registration.
- Participants must design, print, and bring their own posters. We do not provide printing services, but we can recommend venues around AUB like Maliks (Bliss), Books & Pens (Jeanne D’Arc Street), or Antoine (Hamra). Dimensional details will be communicated by email.
- Poster setup will be assigned beforehand, and push pins will be provided.
- All participants must be present throughout the entire poster session to engage with judges.
- Each poster will be assessed by 3 to 4 judges based on design, content, innovation, and presentation. Judges are chemical engineering graduate students.
Prizes
- 1st place: 200$
- 2nd place: 100$
- 3rd place: 50$
