Privacy Policy for AI Digger
Last Updated: April 1, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to AI Digger ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how our Chrome Extension operates.
AI Digger is designed with a strictly "Local-First" architecture. We explicitly state that:
AI Digger does not collect, transmit, or sell any user data, browsing history, or web scraping results to the developer's servers or any unauthorised third parties.
All processing happens securely within your local browser environment or directly between your browser and your configured third-party API providers.
2. Information Handled by the Extension
To provide our web scraping and AI automation features, the extension processes certain data strictly within your local browser environment. None of this data is sent to the developer.
Authentication Information (API Keys): To use the AI features, you must provide your own API keys (e.g., OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Anthropic Claude). These keys are saved exclusively and securely in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage). We never transmit these keys to our servers.
Scraped Data & Website Content: When you initiate a scraping job, the extension reads the Document Object Model (DOM) of the active web page. This extracted data is stored entirely in your browser's local storage so you can download it (CSV/Excel).
Screenshots and Vision Data: If you utilize the "Live AI Vision" or "Screenshot-Assisted Healing" features, the extension will capture a temporary visual screenshot of your currently active tab. This image is sent directly to your configured AI provider to map visual elements to CSS selectors. The image is immediately discarded from memory after the API call and is never transmitted to the developer or stored permanently.
User Activity (Macro Recording): If you use the Macro Recorder feature, the extension temporarily records your clicks and keystrokes on the active page to build your automation blueprint. This tracking only occurs when the recorder is visibly active and is saved locally.
Email Identity (Feedback Form): If you click the "Feedback" button, the extension may request access to your Google Account email address (chrome.identity.email). This is used solely to optionally pre-populate the contact field on our Google Forms bug report page to save you time. We do not track, store, or collect this email address.
3. Third-Party Services and Data Transmission
Your data only leaves your browser under your explicit instructions and configurations:
Direct LLM Transmission: When using AI Inspector, Magic Build, or Vision AI features, HTML snippets and/or temporary screenshots are transmitted directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Anthropic Claude) using your personal API key. This data is subject to the respective privacy policies of those providers. It is never routed through any intermediary servers owned by AI Digger.
Webhooks: If you actively configure a Webhook URL (e.g., Zapier, Make.com, or a custom API), the extension will transmit your extracted spreadsheet data directly to that URL upon scraping completion.
4. Data Retention and User Control
Because your data is stored locally on your machine, you have complete control over it. You can delete your scraped data, saved job blueprints, run history, and API keys at any time directly through the extension's "Clear Stored Data" button, or simply by uninstalling the extension from your browser.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new extension features or regulatory requirements. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
