Is My Child Ready For Potty Training?
Few facts to note
1. First part of toilet training is teaching your child to recognize his or her body signals for urinating and having a bowel movement
2. Secondly your child need to learn to use toilet seat or potty seat properly
3. Most kids learn to control their bowels before their bladder
4. Most kids would have bowel control at night by 1 year of age
Potty training success hinges on physical, developmental and behavioural maturity of your child and not just age.
Many children show signs of being ready for potty training between ages 18 and 24 months. However, others might not be ready until they're 24-36 months old.
Please don’t rush for training, if started too early it actually might delay it
How to know if your child ready for potty training? Please answer below questions
1. Can your child walk to and sit on a toilet?
2. Can your child pull down his or her pants and pull them up again?
3. Can your child stay dry for up to two hours?
4. Can your child understand and follow basic directions?
5. Can your child communicate when he or she needs to go?
6. Does your child seem interested in using the toilet or wearing "big-kid" underwear or to get rid of diapers?
7. Plan toilet training for when you can devote the time and energy to be consistent on a daily basis for a few months.
8. Some people find it easier to start in the summer, when there are fewer clothes to take off and washed clothes dry more quickly.
