Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What is Science Olympiad?
A: Science Olympiad is an academic competition where students can explore different areas of science with their teams.
---
Q: What if I'm not good at science?
A: Part of Science Olympiad is learning as you go. The club has access to a wide variety of resources and teammates to help you along your journey. Prior knowledge is not necessary, only an open mind.
---
Q: What if I don't like book studying?
A: That's okay! The fun of Science Olympiad is that it also includes hands-on events like builds. There is something for everyone.
---
Q: What is the time commitment like?
A: It will depend on the event. Some events will require that you give up a few weekends to prepare for tournaments. The number of events will also greatly affect timing. We recommend that participants pick 2-3 events (3 are required for Varsity). The more events you have, the more time it may take. If you are uncertain, start small, then build your way up.
---
Q: How many tournaments do you go to a year?
A: On average, we attend 3 tournaments. While not every team will attend each tournament, every participant is required to attend BARSO, or Regionals. If any conflicts arise that would prevent you from attending, please email your team captain or coach so that we can make accomodations.
---
Q: How many teams are there?
A: We have 2-3 teams per year. For Varsity, students are picked according to seniority and performance. For the other teams, students are picked to accommodate event schedules.
