Dr. Ahmed AbuHussein is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Cyber Engineering (ECE) at Gannon University, Erie, Pennsylvania, USA. Prior to his appointment at Gannon, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, Alaska, USA. 

Dr. Abuhussein holds a Ph.D. in ECE from the University of Memphis, Tennessee, USA. He also holds an MS in ECE from the same institute and a BS in Electrical Power Engineering from Tafila Technical University (TTU), Tafila, Jordan. 

Dr. AbuHussein is an active member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES). He is a member of the executive committee of the IEEE Erie Section, where he has served as the section’s secretary since October 2019. The IEEE Erie section is part of IEEE Region 2 and covers northwest Pennsylvania. He is also a member of IEEE’s honor society, Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), and The faculty advisor for the IEEE HKN and IEEE students club at Gannon University. 

Dr. AbuHussein's main field of interest includes fault current limiters, power quality, Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GIC), power electronics, electrical machines, AC/DC microgrids, renewable energy systems, energy storage systems, and flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS).
