December 2022, In Schweitzer Engineering Laboratory Supported Our Power Systems Lab with two SEL-751 Feeder Protection Relays and two SEL-421 

December 2022, Our Power Lab's new research equipment (OP1420 Microgrid Simulator). The simulator will help support our Hardware-In-The-Loop Simulation. 

November 18, 2022. Dr. AbuHussein reviewed submissions and judged posters presented by the students at the 2022 IEEE Student Research Competition

Field Trip, November 7th, 2022 – Graduate and Undergraduate students from our Power Distribution class did a two-hour tour at one of PENELEC’s distribution substations in Erie.

September 2022, The Department of Electrical and Cyber Engineering received a 50-seat license for the Electromagnetic Transient Simulation Program (EMTP). Thanks to EMTP for their generous support. This is a great asset to our research and education at Gannon. 

June-August 2022, Gannon's student, Zachery Mansour, is currently working with Dr. AbuHussein at the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden, CO on microgrids.

June 2022, Dr. Abuhussein has received a $12,000 mini-grant from the NASA Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium to develop a new device to suppress geomagnetic currents in power systems.

May 16, 2022 – One of our ECE students, Daniel Hughes, Junior, EE major, presented a paper at the 2022 IEEE PES T&D Conference and Expo held in New Orleans, LA, on April 25-28, 2022. Dan has also competed in the power engineering general knowledge competition hosted by ABB and won the first place by answering 50 out of 50 questions correctly!! Congratulations, Dan

Feb. 1, 2022: Dr. A. Abuhussein was recently awarded a research grant for three years to work on grid forming inverters. Congratulations!

Nov. 30, 2021 Field trip to the EATON Power Systems Experience Center: A group of ECE students enrolled in a Renewable Energy course visited the Eaton Power Systems Experience Center, Warrendale, PA, with Dr. Abuhussein.
