What impact does AHG and VA1148 have?
AHG impacts the lives of our youth members and adults in positive ways each and every day. AHG's mission is at the core of VA1148's programming. Below, you will find testimonials about some of our members' journeys.
I joined AHG when I was in 1st grade and I've been with it and loved it ever since. American Heritage Girls taught me at a young age its mission to “Build women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country.” I remember packing gifts in shoeboxes to send to children around the world, dancing at the yearly Father-Daughter Ball with friends, and hiking on local park trails. Even when I meet different American Heritage Girl troops at multi-troop events such as Camporee and touring Virginia State Capitol, I still meet the same welcoming spirit of kinship that it encourages.
American Heritage Girls is not only a fun way to serve others and socialize, AHG also teaches its members important expertise for later in life. Budgeting, how to safely handle a fire, and lead a group in a project are just some of the many necessary experiences I've had from being a part of AHG. I believe the best way for girls to make new friendships, care for others, develop essential life skills, and flourish in their faith is by joining American Heritage Girls.
