All over the world, farmers have been facing injustices. Specifically in India, the government recently passed three bills regarding farmers and their crop sales. The bills are supposed to boost efficiency by allowing farmers to sell produce to private buyers instead of in a regulated market to increase production. The bills seem like a win, but in reality, the bills would hurt their earnings and decrease crop prices. Larger corporations would be able to take over and increase prices putting farmers at a greater disadvantage. As a result, farmers have been protesting against the bills and suicide rates have increased immensaly.
