The goal of the Agricultural Microbiomes Research Coordination Network is to establish an international network of agricultural microbiome researchers to facilitate and advance coordinated synthetic, collaborative, and integrative scientific studies of agricultural plant and soil microbiomes.
Agricultural Microbiomes Research Coordination Network
Microbiomes have significant impacts on agricultural productivity, and are considered the ‘new frontier’ for achieving sustainable production of sufficient food, feed, and fiber to meet the projected global population of 9 billion by 2050. Advancement of agricultural microbiomes understanding requires a global and interdisciplinary collaborative effort. The goal of the Agricultural Microbiomes Research Coordination Network is to establish an international network of agricultural microbiome researchers to facilitate and advance coordinated synthetic, collaborative, and integrative scientific studies of agricultural plant and soil microbiomes. The Agricultural Microbiome RCN is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Opportunity for Early-Career microbiome scientists!
The NSF-Funded Agricultural Microbiomes RCN is sponsoring a session on MICROBIOMES at this fall’s SACNAS (Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science) National Diversity in STEM Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico (October 27-29; sacnas.org/conference). We will be sponsoring FOUR (4) early-career scientists to attend SACNAS and present a short (4-minute) lightning talk on their MICROBIOME research. We are seeking early career scientists, including undergrad and graduate students and postdocs, who can provide a dynamic overview of their microbiome research. We wish to highlight exciting ideas in microbiome science and to target diverse speakers, institutions, research habitats, technical approaches, and findings. Selected light talk speakers will receive financial support of up to $2000 to help cover associated costs (discounted registration, lodging at discounted rate, and coach airfare).
To apply, please provide: i) Title of the talk; ii) 3 key points/findings of your research; and iii) up to 100-word overview of your research defining habitat, technical approach(es), and next steps. Applications are due by September 2nd, 2022. Successful applicants will be notified by September 5. Submit applications and any questions to: JP Dundore-Arias (jdundorearias@csumb.edu)
