Precision agriculture, a concept that can be understood as digital/intelligent or automated agriculture, encompasses the use of technology (software and hardware) in agricultural production, environmental monitoring, crop protection and support management. Agricultural Robotics and Automation is an exciting and pertinent research aera with great potential to support agricultural activities. Although progress has been made over the last years, agricultural robotics is an emergent research field with many potentialities to explore. It is well known that Portugal has a historical agriculture tradition, being a “Living laboratory” for innovative management practices and scalable solutions for the Mediterranean region and Europe.
