Going into the Nightmare Zone, set up a Customizable Rumble(Normal) this should cost you 22k GP, but 12k GP if you have all of the quests completed. Use the following bosses to maximize XP/hr and tweak them as fits your needs.
Trapped Soul
Sand Snake
The Kendal
Count Draynor
King Roald
Skeleton Hellhound
Tree Spirit
Bouncer
When you get into the NMZ go towards the center and drink a total of 5 Absorptions (totalling 1000 points) and 1 sip of your Super Combat.
Using this method, you are able to AFK in the NMZ for up to 18-20 minutes without interacting with the game. Just come back to your PC and drink your Absorptions back to full, sip a super combat and move your character around briefly then reset your timer*
Utilizing the Remote Desktop App from the Google Play store, you can take AFKing one step further and control your PC directly from your cell phone. This allows for mass experience gains by accessing your PC remotely at any time you have a connection.
Experience gains may vary pending on Bosses and gear set ups. Using only the blue bosses will provide less experience but ensure a longer AFK ability in the NMZ due to taking less damage from these creatures as well. Adding in the red bosses will increase XP/hr but also mean that you use up more Absorption potions. Though usually points gained exceeds potions used greatly while training combat.
*Moving your character is not required but some feel it is better to do this to confirm that the reset takes action
The Ascent of Arceuus - Trapped Soul
The Depths of Despair - Sand Snake
Mountain Daughter - The Kendal
Vampyre Slayer - Count Draynor
What Lies Below - King Roald
In Search of the Myreque - Skeleton Hellhound
Lost City -Tree Spirit
Fight Arena -Bouncer
-4-8 Super Combat potions depending how long you want to be there utilizing the XP/hr bonus of the boosted stats
-Fill Absorption potions. I fill the rest of my inventory with Absorption potions so that I can get the maximum amount of time in my NMZ trips
Combat XP/HR- 80-92K
HP XP/HR- 25-29K XP/HR
My setup:
Neitiznot Faceguard
Amulet of Torture
Fire Cape
Rada’s Blessing
Ghrazi Rapier
Bandos Chestplate
Bandos Tassets
Dragon Defender
Ferocious Gloves
Primordial Boots
Treasonous Ring(i)
(I use the Treasonous Ring(i) due to the Rapier being a stab weapon and already being at Level 95 Strength)
This setup could be improved on by switching the Dragon Defender to the Avernic Defender and the Fire Cape to the Infernal Cape*
*I am unsure how much additional XP/hr these upgrades provide and thus it may exceed the total 100k/hr
Combat XP/hr 60-70k
Hp XP/hr 17-18k
The best budget option that I have found so far is wearing full Obsidian armour
Obsidian Helmet
Obsidian Platebody
Obsidian Platelegs
Berserker Necklace
Toktz-xil-ak (or other Obsidian weapon)
This full combination of obsidian provides a boost of 10% melee attack and strength, and 20% damage
Defender (Dragon)
Guardian Boots
RFD Gloves (Barrows)
Berserker Ring(i)
Fire Cape
God Blessing
(New to NMZ)
Combat XP/hr 50-60k XP/hr
Hp XP/hr 15-17k
Back/Cape: If you do not have the Fire Cape, the Obsidian Cape is a good option to switch for that isn’t to expensive
Off-Hand: If you do not have a defender, then the Toktz-ket-xil is another viable, cheap option
Gloves: Replacing the Ferocious Gloves with their RFD variant (up to your capability/quest completion) is effective as well if you have not completed DS2 or don't have the GP for the upgrade. If you have no other options then the combat bracelet should be worn for at least some bonus in the slot
Boots: Guardian Boots are a great replacement for Primordial if you can not afford them. If you do not have the level or the Guardian is too pricey, then Dragon Boots are a great option that doesn’t break the bank
Ring slot: Berserker Ring is the best option when in the NMZ due to the Melee Str bonus provided allowing for a higher max hit. If not the Berserker Ring then the Warrior Ring(When training Strength) and the Treasonous Ring(When training other styles) are viable cheaper options. All rings should be considered as important as your Berserker Ring and imbued upon reaching the 650,000 point mark
The information gathered for this study was provided using three accounts of various but in close proximity of over all and specific combat levels. Ranging from level 95-119 over the course of the study.
A special thank you to SpellseyOSRS for the work they did on their NMZ video which caused me to delve deeper into how to get slightly cheaper builds and more expensive ones while still getting great AFK XP gains.
