"Where are you from?" is a question I often get. The answer is "it's complicated".
I was born in Geneva and raised on the border between France and Switzerland. I came to live in the United States in 1996. There I met my husband, who grew up in South Korea. We have lived in Iowa, Texas (Austin), Georgia, and Pennsylvania. My native language is French.
I am 1/24 French, 1/3 Swiss, 1/4 Korean, and 9/24 American (exercise: does that add up to 1?)
Cheerful Korean ballads
Korean historical dramas
Wrapping my lunch and other things in a Japanese furoshiki
Japanese anime
Heels
Dressing up for no reason
Chocolate (can't do without)
The French Alps over the Lake from the Vevey shore
White Sands at sunset
Hiking in the mountains
Rain on a hot summer day
The sound of powder snow under my boots

Singer song writer Jean-Jacques Goldman
Social ballroom dancing
It took some courage, but how could I travel to Buenos Aires and not dance Argentine Tango (December 2012)?
