Well-designed performance tasks must be authentic, credible, and user-friendly. Throughout the module, students participated in eight performance tasks that lead to a culminating project-based activity, using tools practitioners would use. The final project-based performance task was a culmination of the prior days’ activities that students prepared for beginning on the first day of instruction. Each activity focused primarily on one aspect of STEM surrounding an authentic agricultural project, although most tasks involved several STEM skills for their completion.
Accompanying the authentic tasks in this module were similarly designed authentic assessment rubrics developed to measure if students could apply what they learned and innovate in authentic, adult situations. Please feel free to view the sample activity below.
