AGAC Directors
Kevin Virnig is the Head Coach of the Arroyo Grande Aquatic Club and Associate Head Coach for Arroyo Grande High School. An AGHS alumnus (’18) and former 4-year varsity swimmer and 2-year captain, individual league champion, and CIF medalist, Kevin returned to AG to coach in 2020 and led the reform of AGAC to what it is today.
His coaching tenure includes four league titles and top-4 CIF-CS finishes for the AGHS boys (2021, 2023). In 2025, as Associate Head Coach, he guided both the boys' and girls' programs to undefeated league championships. Kevin has developed individual CIF champions, State qualifiers, and record-breakers across both programs.
Under his leadership, AGAC has expanded to serve youth through high school athletes, producing numerous Zone, Sectional, Futures, and National qualifiers, with many continuing to the collegiate level. Still an active competitor, Kevin leverages an "athlete’s perspective" to mentor his swimmers in both personal growth and competitive excellence.
Russell Peterson is the founder of the Arroyo Grande Aquatic Club and Head Coach of the Arroyo Grande High School swim and boys' water polo teams. Since joining AGHS in 2012, he has led the boys' swim program to six league titles (2014-2016, 2021-2022, 2025) and multiple top-5 CIF finishes. In 2025, Russell also took the helm of the girls' swim program, leading them to an undefeated league title in his inaugural season.
His tenure at AGHS features 30+ school record-breaking performances, All-American honors for multiple individuals and relays, and State qualifiers in six separate seasons. Beyond the sport of swimming, Russell led the AGHS boys' water polo team to its first-ever CIF championship in 2022 and three consecutive league titles.
A 2010 San Luis Obispo High alumnus, Russell holds a History degree from Cal Poly and teaches the subject at AGHS. He remains an active swimmer, and believes that the greatest thing that can be taken from the sport are not times on a scoreboard, but life lessons.
Brandi Pasquini is the Vice President and Treasurer of the Arroyo Grande Aquatic Club, having served as a director since the club's founding in 2018. An AGHS alum and former Head Coach of Nipomo High School’s swim program, Brandi currently serves as the Aquatics Director for the Lucia Mar Unified School District. In this role, she manages the district’s Summer Swim program, overseeing both recreational swimming and youth swim lessons.
Widely recognized as the premier HS meet manager on the Central Coast, Brandi runs the computer for all AGHS dual and championship meets. Her leadership extends across the broader athletic community as the current AGHS Athletics Boosters President. With a deep commitment to the swimming community, Brandi focuses on advocacy and administrative excellence, ensuring the interests of Arroyo Grande’s student-athletes are always at the forefront.
