Welcome to Arsenic Noir Photography. I’m Melissa — photographer, unapologetic weirdo, and the human behind the lens. Most people think they need to know how to pose or be “good in front of a camera.” You don’t.
My job is to guide you through the entire experience so you can relax and actually enjoy it. I handle the lighting, the direction, the mood, and all the little details that turn a photoshoot into something memorable. he result? Images that feel powerful, cinematic, and unmistakably you. I’ve spent the last seven years building Arsenic Noir around one idea: portraits don’t have to be ordinary. They can be bold. Fierce. A little strange. Entirely unforgettable.
I live in Sherwood Park, Alberta with my family and three cats who are convinced they run the place. When I’m not photographing people, I’m usually reading, scouting new locations, or diving headfirst into some odd creative hobby that eventually makes its way into a shoot. I’ve also been a seamstress for over twenty years, which means if your session calls for something dramatic or custom, I can literally stitch the vision together. Every session is collaborative, creative, and relaxed. I’ll crack bad puns, lean into dry humour, and make sure the whole experience feels natural instead of stiff or staged. Awkward moments? We laugh through them. Wild ideas? I’m probably already thinking the same thing. Because at the end of the day, photos aren’t just pictures. They’re how we remember ourselves.
So let’s make yours unforgettable.
