**Air Force Meeting Minutes**  

**Date:** August 6, 2025  

**Chapter:** AFSA Chapter 371  

**Call to Order:**  

The meeting was called to order by the Chair at 00:06.

**Opening Ceremony:**  

- Preamble was recited by the members, led by a volunteer.

- The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present.

**New Members Introduction:**  

- New members introduced themselves.

**Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes:**  

- The minutes from the last meeting were approved by motion and second.

**Reports:**

1. **Vice President's Report (TSgt. Gatton):**

   - Discussed the Military Sherpa program for spouses, offering free leadership training and skills development.

2. **Treasurer's Report:**

   - Current balance stands at $11,000, with plans for budget allocation to community support and upcoming events.

3. **Legislative Report:**

   - Updates on North Carolina legislation affecting military members, tuition discounts, and ongoing advocacy for military benefits.

4. **Membership Report:**

   - Current membership is at 472, with a push for new recruits and renewals, emphasizing the importance of member numbers for advocacy.

5. **Events Report:**

   - Upcoming events include the NC Freedom Fest on September 6 and POW/MIA Week from September 15-19, requiring volunteer support.

**Old Business:**  

- Discussion on the need for more committee involvement and leadership opportunities within the chapter.

**New Business:**  

- Open positions for various roles within the chapter were announced, encouraging members to get involved.
