The purpose of these Art Therapy sessions is to provide all adolescents with equal opportunity to live a positive and healthy lifestyle by hosting educational sessions and fostering a comforting environment through the healing benefits of art therapy.
A great outlet to measure the impact of your sessions is to instruct the participants, during their last session, to make a creative poster with a quick summary of all the mental health topics they learned during your sessions.
To demonstrate what they learned, Group 1 used their notes, memories, and imaginations to brainstorm how to most creatively showcase what they've learned in African Art Therapy club! Group 1 completed the posters as a group activity.
Above is a sweet note from a participant stating that art therapy is her favorite club! 😊
Above are sweet notes that myself and another team member received from participants of Group 1! ☺️
To demonstrate what they learned, Group 2 split into 3 groups to use their notes, memories, and imaginations to brainstorm how to most creatively showcase what they've learned in African Art Therapy club!
Here is the outline and rubric I provided group 2 with as they completed their creative posters. This project was meant to encourage the kids to put their recall and imagination to use so they were tasked with using their memories to creatively follow the outlines given.
