African Shadow Voices

African non-party stakeholders in the UNFCCC

Climate change has no boundaries

Welcome to the information hub for UNFCCC non party stakeholders

The upcoming 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is one of the most prominent COPs to take place since the Paris Agreement in 2015.

Whilst the African Group of Negotiators have been able to meaningfully contribute to international climate change negotiations, other African voices, particularly non-Party stakeholders, have been more muted. Input from these stakeholder groups is necessary, both to enhance Africa’s position as a bloc within the UNFCCC processes and negotiations, but also to strengthen the ambition, relevance and effectiveness of nationally determined communications.

This project supports the profile and climate message of African grassroots organisations across regional and international platforms, and also creates a living network of organisations that may will become a prominent African voice on climate change in the future.

Here you can access all the collected resources of the stakeholders groups.
