ADi is the official mascot of the 27th AFID Conference in Taipei, Taiwan. Inspired by the conference theme “Different Yet Alike,” ADi symbolizes inclusion, connection, and joy.
The name comes from the initials of the Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID) and also echoes the word “阿弟” (Taiwanese: a-tī), meaning “younger one” in Taiwanese culture. This conveys warmth, kinship, and the spirit of welcoming.
ADi represents all of us, welcoming everyone as part of the AFID community.
Colorful, lively, and friendly, ADi will be your companion throughout the conference — guiding, encouraging, and reminding us that every person belongs.
Rooted in Taiwan’s cultural memory and lived experience, Lin Pang-Soong’s creative practice has long taken Taiwan as its central theme. Born in Donggang, Pingtung, and later moving north to Taipei to study at the Department of Fine Arts, National Taiwan Normal University, Lin began shaping a visual language that bridges personal migration, cultural identity, and collective imagination.
The artwork adopted by the 27th Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID) Congress embodies this ongoing exploration. Through dynamic, spiraling lines, Taiwan is visualized not as a fixed point, but as a living core—expanding outward, weaving connections, and reaching across borders. The form suggests movement, dialogue, and continuity, reflecting AFID’s role as a platform where diverse regions, voices, and disciplines meet.
In this design, Taiwan stands at the center not as an endpoint, but as a connector—linking people, ideas, and communities across Asia and the world. It is a visual expression of participation, inclusion, and shared futures.
