AffordTrip ("we," "us," or "our") operates the AffordTrip mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App. By using AffordTrip, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information you provide directly:
Search preferences: Departure city, travel budget, trip dates, number of travelers, and filter selections (such as "direct flights only" or travel style). These are stored locally on your device to remember your preferences between sessions.
Saved trips: When you save a destination, that data is stored locally on your device using the app's local storage.
Information collected automatically:
Technical data: We may collect basic device information such as device type, operating system version, and app version for the purpose of improving app performance and diagnosing issues.
Usage data: We may collect anonymized, aggregated data about how the App is used (such as which features are popular) to improve the user experience. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.
Information we do NOT collect:
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account registration information. AffordTrip does not require you to create an account.
We do not collect precise location data (GPS). Your departure city is selected manually by you.
We do not collect financial information, credit card numbers, or banking details. All subscription payments are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store — we never see or store your payment information.
We do not collect contacts, photos, camera data, microphone data, or any other sensitive device data.
To provide the core service: searching for travel destinations within your budget using live flight price data and estimated ground costs.
To remember your preferences (departure city, currency, saved trips) between app sessions via local device storage.
To improve the App's performance, fix bugs, and develop new features based on anonymized usage patterns.
To manage your subscription status through RevenueCat (our subscription management partner) and the respective app store.
AffordTrip uses the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
Google Travel / SerpApi: We query live flight price data through SerpApi, which accesses Google Travel's publicly available flight information. We send your selected departure airport code, travel dates, and currency — no personal information is transmitted.
RevenueCat: Manages subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous user identifier (generated by the app) and your subscription purchase records from Google Play or Apple. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Google Play Billing / Apple StoreKit: Handles all payment processing for subscriptions. We do not receive or store any payment details. See Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
Wikimedia Commons: Destination photos are sourced from Wikimedia Commons through our backend server. No user data is sent in these requests — only the destination city name.
All user preferences and saved trips are stored locally on your device. We do not maintain a user database or cloud storage of personal information.
Our backend server (hosted on Railway) processes search requests and returns flight and destination data. Search requests contain only travel parameters (airport codes, dates, currency) — no personal identifiers.
We use HTTPS encryption for all communication between the App and our server.
Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times.
You can delete all your data by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the App.
You can delete individual saved trips by tapping the heart icon on any saved destination.
We do not retain any personal data on our servers. Search queries are processed in real time and not stored after the response is returned. Cached search results on our server are anonymized (keyed by airport code and dates, not by user) and automatically expire after 3 hours.
AffordTrip is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email address below, and we will take steps to delete such information.
AffordTrip is available worldwide. Our server is hosted in the United States. By using the App, you acknowledge that your search queries (which contain no personal information) may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence. We comply with applicable data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for users in California.
Your rights under GDPR and CCPA include:
The right to know what data we collect (described in this policy).
The right to access your data (all stored locally on your device).
The right to delete your data (clear app storage or uninstall).
The right to opt out of data selling — we do not sell any user data to third parties, ever.
AffordTrip does not display advertisements. We do not use advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or any form of ad-related data collection.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
