Neko Browser ("the App") is developed and operated by Aethcode ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in Neko Browser.
Unlike traditional browsers, Neko Browser is designed from the ground up to be a fast, minimal, and privacy-focused application.
1. Information Collection and Transmission
We do not collect, store, upload, or share any of your personal information, browsing history, search queries, or device information.
No User Accounts: You do not need to create an account or provide any personal details to use the App.
No Analytics or Crash Reporting: The App does not contain any third-party analytics SDKs, trackers, or crash-reporting libraries that monitor your browsing behavior.
No Server-Side Storage: We do not own or run any database servers that collect user data.
2. Local Device Storage
All of your browsing data is stored strictly on your local device.
Browsing History & Bookmarks: Stored locally in a secure database on your device using Android Room. This data remains on your physical device and is never uploaded.
Clearing Data: You have full control over your browsing data. You can clear your history, cache, and cookies at any time through the App's settings.
3. Product Discovery Feature & Affiliate Disclosure
The App includes an optional, regional "Product Discovery" section displaying curated suggestions (such as mobiles and laptops).
Local Geofencing: To restrict this feature to users in India, the App checks your network operator country and device language settings. This check is performed entirely locally on your device. We do not transmit your location or country data to any server.
GitHub Repository Connection: To keep suggestions up to date, the App downloads static configuration files directly from a public repository on GitHub. This request does not transmit any personal identifiers or search queries.
Affiliate Disclosure: Some product links in this section are affiliate links (e.g., Amazon, Flipkart). If you click these links, you will be redirected to the respective store, and we may earn a small commission from qualifying purchases. An affiliate disclosure is marked with an info icon directly in the App's user interface.
4. Third-Party Web Services
Search Engines: The App's default search engine is Google. You can change this to DuckDuckGo, Bing, or a custom engine in the settings. Your search queries are sent directly to the search engine of your choice and are subject to their respective privacy policies.
Websites Visited: When you visit any website using Neko Browser, that website may collect information about you (such as cookies, IP address, etc.) according to their own privacy policies.
Downloads: The App downloads files directly to your device's public "Download" directory. No special storage access permission is requested from you.
5. Open Source Software
Neko Browser uses open-source libraries (such as Android Jetpack components, SQLite/Room, Kotlin Coroutines, and Glide). These libraries do not collect personal data from you and are governed by standard open-source licenses (like Apache 2.0 and BSD).
6. Children's Privacy
Because Neko Browser does not collect any personal data, we do not knowingly or unknowingly collect information from children. However, because the browser permits unrestricted access to the open internet, we recommend that children use the App under parent or guardian supervision.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Effective Date." We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
