Formative skills are skills in which you are learning the skill. Corrective feedback is given while performing the skill. Depending on the corrective action, the attempt may be pass or fail. You must document all skill attempts.
Because formative scenario skills usually involve incomplete or mini scenarios, you will not need to fill out all the boxes.
Select the option "Formative Skills Scenario"
Select your preceptor from the drop-down list.
DO NOT check "I was the Successful Team Leader." Team size is unneeded. Do not select a response mode.
For patient Assessment:
If the skill you did involved airway management, indicate so with the "The patient required airway management check box.
Pick the appropriate option for the outcome.
Subject: select "Manikin". Select "Human" if you did the skill on a classmate or live patient actor (for example, a live IV stick on a classmate or a patient assessment on a simulated patient.
Age: Enter in the age of the "patient" in the scenario. If one is not given, enter in a value 18-64.
Select the gender of the simulated patient.
DO NOT SELECT ANYTHING ELSE on this section.
Do not select a primary or secondary primary impression (not shown)
Do not select a patient criticality (not shown)
This is where you will document your formative skill. You should document a new patient per "scenario".
Although several skills are NOT listed as required skills for the AEMT, you are required to do 20 successful attempts at "airway management". Ventilation, suction, OPA, NPA counts toward airway management. You must document each scenario individually AND document the "This patient required airway management" checkbox in order the system to county your airway management attempts correctly.
