There are an estimated 7,000 languages spoken across the globe. Only learning to speak one language is like only reading one book in a library! Studies show that learning a world language has cognitive, academic, economic, and social-emotional benefits for students of all ages. Furthermore, language learning creates opportunities to connect with and understand international cultures. Providing K-12 students with the resources to learn (and apply) a second language is a crucial element of creating a more compassionate global society and opens doors to careers, experiences, and friendships. On this website, you will find a small slice of the information out there on the relevance and effectiveness of world language education. Hopefully it will inspire you to dust off your high school Spanish or pursue a new language you have always wanted to learn.
About Me:
I am a student at the University of Portland studying secondary education and French. I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Nantes, France and travel throughout Europe in 2020. After graduation, I hope to work in the international education field to promote the value of world languages.
