Nursery (0-3 year olds)
Our littlest learners will enjoy time with other little friends and caring moms in the nursery room and outside!
Narnia Book Club (Groups 1&2)
Jenna and Ally will be leading the Narnia class which will be a unit study of the Lion Witch and the Wardrobe and will cover art, language arts, as well as history and social studies.
Treehouse Schoolhouse (Group 1)
The preschoolers will be going through the Treehouse Story School literature-based curriculum this year! Each week focuses on a classic picture book and the themes it presents. Children will learn through music and movement, play-based narration, alphabet and number activities, motor skill development, practical life skills, crafts, and simple experiments.
Magic School Bus Science & Art (Groups 2&3)
Description coming soon!
Creative Writing with Katharine Parrish (Group 3)
We are thankful our co-op has coincided these last few years with the class Katharine has taught for decades! Children in her class are learning from an incredibly caring and thoughtful teacher. Writing assignments may include poetry, simple essays and research projects, stories, and more! Students in Group 3 will pay an additional fee of $150 to Katharine Parrish for her creative writing class. She offers a $10 sibling discount if you have more than one child in the class.
Forensic Science (Groups 4&5)
Forensic Science focuses on using the scientific method and research principles to solve mysteries and logic-based puzzles. The class emphasizes hands-on learning and laboratory techniques in biology, chemistry, physical science, and logical reasoning.
We will use Google Classroom to provide homework assignments that build on and reinforce the hands-on activities and reading completed in class. A typical weekly schedule may include a reading assignment completed before class, followed by a hands-on lab activity on Monday with a related homework assignment designed to strengthen understanding and application of the concepts.
A year long joint project between English and Science will work on how to write a science project.
Honors level will include extra research and written assignments.
British Literature (Groups 4&5) with Carey Randall
Groups 4 and 5 will study British Literature this fall. The primary focus of the class will be on literature. Class time will focus on literature analysis, discussion, and both small and large group activities.
Students will also be guided through completing one major writing assignment each semester along with weekly literature-based writing responses. Students taking writing classes or English classes elsewhere can opt out of the major writing assignment.
A typical week for homework will include: a reading assignment; responses that include comprehension and analysis questions, literary device discovery, and written responses; and essay work (for those taking this as their primary English class).
Formal grammar instruction will not be included this year.
An optional honors level will be available for both groups. Group four will have an honors book list with an accompanying book report. Group five will have an honors book list with an essay question for each book.
