Advance Volunteering is an idea created by volunteers, JUST LIKE YOURSELF. We listened to experiences and now we look to make those experiences more enjoyable.
Advance Volunteering is an idea created by four seniors at IUPUI...These are their stories
Casey Koons
Sports Management Major whose favorite event to attend is the Indianapolis 500.
Her favorite volunteering experience was 2020 Men's Big Ten basketball tournament. The draw back that she found in this was not being able to find where to go when she got into the arena.
Devon Russell
Sports Management Major whose favorite professional sports consist of the NBA and NFL.
His favorite volunteering experience was in 2018 when he got to attend the NFL Combine. When he was supposed to pick up his packet he was directed to the wrong place and this is what influenced his decision to help create the idea for an app that could give better instruction on where to get his required packet.
Baylee Fifer
Sports Management Major whose favorite sports to play are soccer and basketball.
Favorite volunteer experience is the Corporate Challenge. He had signed up for the basketball station, but had to do the soccer shootout instead because of people not showing up. When he asked the other volunteers what their job was, they all had difficulties finding the message that had the description of the task.
Armontae Graves
Sports Management Major whose favorite event to attend is IUPUI Boys and Girls Basketball games.
Favorite volunteering experience was for the 500 Festival in 2019. I was a school guide for 4th graders. There wasn't much direction through email, I had to learn on the fly.
Where we are today?
This idea didn't happen overnight. In fact, we spent our entire final semester of college making sure that this project was perfect. We used many techniques to gain insights and information from volunteers in order to come up with our best ideas.
