(1) MIS-TLIF (Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion)

Traditionally, TLIF has been coined as an “open” technique, which requires making a larger incision over back and has more blood loss, tissue destruction, muscles strapping. MIS-TLIF is a minimally invasive spine fusion surgery. The surgeon locates the diseased vertebral level with the help of a portable radiograph (image intensifier machine) and correlates with preoperative radiological and clinical examination. Very minimum skin incision as much possible at the desired level.

Why? MIS-TLIF

Because it has certain advantages like advanced technology, minimum skin incision, less tissue damage, less blood loss, less morbidity, less hospital stay, and early return to duty.

(2) Fusion Surgery

Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion(TLIF)– Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) is spinal fusion surgery. It is the most commonly used procedure to fuse the spine. It is a major spine surgery .it is recommended in listhesis, unstable spine, severe degenerative spinal stenosis, recurrent disc herniation, trauma, infection, etc. The main steps are to remove an intervertebral disc, pedicle screw fixation to stabilize the vertebrae, intervertebral bone grafting, and disc space insertion from the backside of the spine.

Spinal fusion surgery is a surgical technique to stabilize the adjoining spinal vertebra by fusion of adjacent vertebrae. And the aim to create solid bone between the adjoining vertebra, and abolish any movement between the bones. After surgeon and physiotherapist explain all about rehabilitation part of treatment such as the activity of daily living (sitting, assisted and unassisted walking, change in posture, personal hygiene, etc.).

(3) Laminectomy

It is a major spine surgery procedure and around 2-3 day hospitalization is required.

This surgery use full in lumbar canal stenosis secondary to chronic prolapsed intervertebral disc prolapse, spine fracture (traumatic), tumor, etc. Surgery plan after all standard pre-operative investigation and evaluation.in this procedure back /rear part of the vertebral body (spinous process an adequate amount of lamina) removed to make space for thecal sac and spinal cord.

(4) Micro Lumbar Discectomy

This is a daycare procedure (discharge on the same day) routinely performed under local anesthesia.in this procedure targeted bulged /prolapsed disc fragment retrieved with the help of a microscope. Pre-operative standard intravenous antibiotics are given. Targeted level marked under image intensifier under microscope culprit disc fragment retrieved. During a hospital stay, surgeon and physiotherapist explain all precautions and care like how to change position in bed, self-care during the activity of daily living, wound care, diet, follow up duration, etc.

Advantages– Day care procedure, early return to duty, minimal tissue damage, less hospitalization duration, minimum bed rest.

Post-operative care: Most patients discharged from the hospital on the same day evening or early the next day after surgery.
