Each year is a new chapter in your time with us in the ADSS Music program. It is important to get organized at the beginning of the year so to set yourself up for success. Find below for each grade what is required and recommended for student success:
All students are required to have the program uniform for concerts. This includes: Black pants (no sweat pants or tights please), fully black shoes, black socks, a white collared shirt (does not have to be a button up, just needs to have a collar), and the ADSS Band Sweater (order forms available online, cost is $50 per sweater. Once money is received and form completed we will place your order).
Recommendations for affordable uniform options:
Grade 8:
Instrument
Students MUST have an instrument to participate in our program. It is HIGHLY recommended that students rent one from one of the local music stores (Long & McQuade based in Nanaimo). Long & Mcquade travels here frequently and have an online portal to rent from. If a student absolutely cannot afford an instrument rental, we do have school instruments available at a non-refundable $50 fee for the year (covers repair and cleaning). If this is still an issue for your family please contact the music directors immediately. Finances should not be a barrier to participating in band/music and we will work to get each student what they need to be involved. To start the process in acquiring a school rental, please fill out the online form found at the bottom of the page.
