Research Activity #1

Analysis:

In this research activity, I was not exactly comfortable or ready with all the new technology that we would be using in this class. I remember not even knowing how to use flipgrid or jamboard. However, the more I used them and was patient, I eventually learned to use them. To reflect on my response on part 5, I did learn as I progressed with the class and it was definitely a learning experience. It extremely helped using these various technologies alongside in class, because it has made the process easier and less stressful.

Revisions:

I have made a couple of revisions, mostly with formatting. I used bullet points to make the last question more clear and easy to understand for the reader. I changed the size of the headings to be larger and shortened it to be simple enough to understand. I added some more thoughts on the last question just to make sure my input is strong and well heard. Lastly, I added a visual that represents a form of "technology," to make this section look more appealing and modern.

Part V: Reflecting

  1. Do you have any questions about using Blackboard or any of the technologies we discussed today?

  • They seem a little tricky, but with time I will get better equipped on how to use them

  • I feel like every technology is difficult to learn and navigate at first, but you adjust and you learn as you go

  1. Do you think it is important to learn how to use various technologies in English class? Why or why not?

  • Yes, technology (whether we like it or not) will only advance from now one and it is beneficial to use with writing and especially in English classes (spelling, grammar, word count, etc.).

  • If I start using various technologies now rather than later, I will be more prepared in the future.

  1. What is your experience with academic research and/or research writing?

  • Thus far, I do not have that much experience with research, except with research papers for other English classes.

  • I’ve always liked the aspect of choosing an interesting topic and then describing/writing about it in a larger context.
