I am from a fairway,
Where my swing guides me forward and backward,
The sounds of birds and the fear of the hazards strives me,
My good swings are luck, and my bad swings just suck,
I am the one who still might hit a duck.
The rigid grip that falls into my hand,
The grooves on the ball clash with the cool metal of the club head.
I am from a classroom,
The smell in the room is full of dust,
Leftover candles and some random swept-up rust,
While the air is not pure, and the doors may not be secure,
When I teach my students, I’m never unsure,
I am from a small town,
Tastes of fresh-cut cilantro, peppers, and freshly baked bread,
It fills my heart with everything except dread,
Mexican flavors are so pure to taste,
None of the cooked food has ever gone to waste.
I am from a stadium,
The yells and screams make it hard to hear,
The clashes of players and the bashes of the drum sets,
I am from a Charger game,
Where the sound of thunder crashes after each score.
I am from a museum,
Where the art is colorful and yet still sad,
The sight of people trying to look smart,
I am an artist that creates art,
People try to grade my piece like it’s a chart
My life is a piece of art,
Unfinished and still in progress.
