Scotland has a rich history of ship-building. It's your turn to become MARINE ENGINEERS!
Designers, engineers and builders do not usually begin with their final construction. First, they design it by drawing their ideas, create a plan (blueprint) and then build a prototype – often a small model. This helps the marine engineers and builders to sort out any problems before they build the real thing.
Your team is going to design and build a prototype boat that could be used in the Linlithgow Cardboard Boat Race in August. We have called it a BOAT-O-TYPE! (Another one of Andrew’s bad jokes!)
What sort of boat will you design? Will it be long and narrow? Will it be short and wide. Will you design it for a minimum crew of 2 or a maximum or a maximum of 6? Will it be powered by oars or paddles? Will it be a basic box shape or will it have a pointed prow?
