Dr. Chung-Ying Lin served as an occupational therapist for patients with psychosocial dysfunction in the Department of Occupational Therapy, Jianan Medical Center, Ministry of Health and Welfare (2012-2013), and continually worked on his postdoctoral research in the Department of Public Health, National Cheng Kung University (2014-2015). Dr. Lin studies quality of life (QoL), which is an important patient-reported outcome measure. He tries using QoL to help health professionals monitor and understand the health of people with or without a disability. In addition to the QoL, Dr. Lin is interested in stigma, a significant outcome measure specifically for people with psychiatric disorder. He also works on stigma issues in people with a psychiatric disorder and their caregiver. Specifically, Dr. Lin has validated several QoL instruments among different populations (including pediatric population, population with mental illness, cancer population, population with polycystic ovary syndrome, and geriatric population) and some stigma-related measures using both basic and advanced psychometric methods (e.g., confirmatory factor analysis [CFA] and item response theory [IRT]).
Dr. Lin has the interests in children/adolescent health and investigates some theoretical models related to their psychological well-being, QoL and stigma. He now is studying the stigma, health psychology, and health behaviors in overweight/obese children in East countries.
