Each month, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails a high quality, age-appropriate book to all registered children, addressed to them, at no cost to the child’s family.
The DeGood Foundation’s mission is to ensure that all children in Hampton Roads will have equitable access to early literacy resources. The DeGood Foundation is the home of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Hampton Roads, Virginia. By providing free, high-quality, age-appropriate books to children each month, we inspire a love of books, reading, and learning that will lay the foundation for literacy and learning for years to come.
Donate to the DeGood Foundation our local connection to the Dolly Parton program.

This year we’re helping children at 56 schools in the Hampton Roads area, and not just during the holidays. We accept requests from schools throughout the school year, so our work doesn’t stop in January. We rely on your generosity to get us through the entire year.
Donating is easy: visit www.ShoeLady.org and click the button of your choice, or click the appropriate link below:
Pledge Shoes for a specific child (red button). We’ll send you shoe assignments for a specific child (or children) as we receive the needs from the schools.
Pledge Un-assigned Shoes (blue button) to add to ShoeLady’s inventory. Deliver new shoes to the drop points (addresses at end of email) and we’ll hold them until we receive a matching request.
Donate Cash for Shoes (green button). If you would prefer to let ShoeLady do the buying, we’ll do it! Just pledge/donate cash via the website; we budget $30 per pair. You can also donate money on our Facebook page by clicking here, or by mailing checks payable to ShoeLady.org to PO Box 1054, Newport News, VA 23601.
It’s that easy. And, since we’re an IRS 501c3 corporation, your contributions qualify as a charitable donation.

When it was brought to our attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own neighborhoods, we stepped up and took initiative. We’re a national organization answering the call to a national problem
