About Water Conservation:
Water conservation includes all the policies, strategies and activities to sustainably manage the natural resource of fresh water, to protect the hydrosphere, and to meet the current and future human demand (thus avoiding water scarcity). Population, household size and growth and affluence all affect how much water is used.Factors such as climate change have increased pressures on natural water resources especially in manufacturing and agricultural irrigation. Many countries have already implemented policies aimed at water conservation, with much success. The key activities to conserve water are as follows: any beneficial reduction in water loss, use and waste of resources, avoiding any damage to water quality; and improving water management practices that reduce the use or enhance the beneficial use of water.Technology solutions exist for households, commercial and agricultural applications to reduce the . Water conservation programs involved in social solutions are typically initiated at the local level, by either municipal water utilities or regional governments.
Objectives :
The objective of water conservation is to responsibly manage and preserve freshwater resources to ensure their availability for present and future generations. By implementing water conservation measures, such as reducing wastage, improving efficiency in water usage, and adopting sustainable water management practices, the aim is to alleviate water scarcity, protect ecosystems, and maintain the ecological balance. Water conservation also plays a crucial role in mitigating the impacts of climate change
Visit :
In order to accomplish the above objective of water conservation, we visited the campus of APS College of Engineering.
Case Study :
In response to escalating water scarcity and dwindling groundwater levels, the city of Cape Town, South Africa, implemented a ground breaking water management strategy during the severe drought of 2017-2018. This initiative, known as the "Day Zero" campaign, aimed to drastically reduce water consumption and avoid the complete depletion of municipal water reserves. Through public awareness campaigns, strict water restrictions.
Report :
Water is the most essential gift by the god to survive on this earth. Human body is made of 70% water and it hydrates our body including flushing of waste materials from our body. The water regulates human body temperature and manages the transportation of nutrients. Water is most necessary for our digestion system. Hence appropriate usage of water and saving it for our future is very much essential. The field visit helped us to understand the importance of water and its proper usage in agriculture.
OutcomesÂ
As part of this activity we were convinced about the importance of water and its appropriate utilisation in our day to day life. This initiative helped us to understand the importance of rain water harvesting and its utilisation.
