At ADHOC, we believe that privacy is a right, not a privilege. Our extension, ADHOC – AI Study Assistant, was designed with the total protection of your data in mind. Here’s how we handle your information and why you can trust us.
The ADHOC extension does not collect any technical data or usage information. All analytical logic, timer configurations, and AI processes (Gemini Nano) are executed and stored exclusively within your browser's local memory. The extension is designed to never collect, transmit, or share any user data with external servers. All information is used solely for the following purposes:
Local Personalization: Your Pomodoro settings, white noise configurations, and bionic reading preferences are saved in chrome.storage.local to ensure the extension functions according to your choices every time you open it.
Real-time Content Analysis: Video transcripts are processed by the local AI model (Gemini Nano) for the sole purpose of generating check-in questions and are immediately cleared from memory once the quiz session ends.
Focus Monitoring: URLs of visited pages are checked by a background script only to verify that you haven't left your educational material; they are never saved or used for analytics.
Notes and Progress: Any content entered into the notepad and your game progress scores are stored strictly on your local device.
Do we share your data? Never.
The ADHOC extension does not share any user data—even in anonymous or aggregated form—with any third-party companies, analytics services, or statistical platforms. Here are the core privacy principles that guarantee this:
No External Analytics: There are no tracking scripts (such as Google Analytics) implemented in the extension’s code, which rules out any transmission of information regarding how you use the plugin.
Local AI Processing: Video transcript analysis happens entirely on your device using the built-in Gemini Nano model, ensuring the content of your educational materials never reaches AI provider servers.
Data Isolation: All notes, timer settings, and game progress are stored exclusively in your browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local) and are not synced with any external cloud.
Privacy-First Monitoring: Active tab information used by the Distraction Tracker is processed only in real-time and is never saved or logged anywhere.
Furthermore, full details regarding all requested permissions—such as storage, tabs, and notifications—are publicly available and documented in the extension's manifest file, ensuring total transparency in how the plugin operates.
