In 2024, I took a video game design class in high school, and we began a collaborative project in the second semester. This collaboration would see every student play a role in creating a "steampunk-pirate action game". Skyrates (as we called it), would be a first-person experience where players traverse from island-to-island seeking pieces of a map leading to treasure. In the early stages of development, I volunteered to be one of the key concept artists for this vision.
From there, I was then assigned to work on 3D modeling. I was tasked with taking my concept art for the "spider-barrel robot enemy" and turning it into a 3D model.
Final Texture [WIP] preview
After modeling and animation, I was tasked with using the Quixel Mixer texturing software to create a texture for the spider enemy model. This was the first time I had ever used Quixel Mixer, and I went in blind just like how I did with Maya. And that was how I completed my first fully textured model independently.

The first concept sketch at the top inspired the final model design for the spider robot enemy.
