Class Outing to Hoosier Village
One of the social capital building activities that we were able to participate in was an outing at Hoosier Village. While we were there we were able to tour nearly the entire campus, as well as listen to a panel of a variety of speakers with varying experience speak about their personal journey in long term care facilities. This outing sparked an interest in long term care for me and opened the door to a potential career path. I really appreciated the school for putting this outing together for us students because it can be difficult to make those connections on your own. I learned so much more about long term care as a whole and what roles I could be interested in after graduation.
Global Public Health Project
My Global Public Health course (PBHL-H330) was very focused on comparing other countries health systems to the U.S. I had to complete a project comparing Germany's health care system to the U.S. and present the information to the class. I learned so much from this project about Germany's health care system, and especially about the U.S. health care system. It was important for us students to do our own research on this and weigh out the pros and cons of each health care system. I learned so much from my own research, but also from other student's presentations. From this, I found that I have an interest in global public health and will want to explore that further in whatever career path I choose.
