Overview

For this project, our group is focusing on SDG 10  (Reduce inequality within and among countries). Here are two targets of SDG 10 that stood out to us.

Literature Study "Thirst"

Exploring Social Inequities and the Power to Make Change

Middle school students will read and analyze the novel "Thirst" by Varsha Bajaj and collaborate with classes worldwide through Global Read Aloud. Students will identify the Sustainable Development Goals addressed in the novel and identify the SDG they are most passionate about. In small groups, they will research, plan, and execute a "Global Citizen" project. Finally, they will present their project outcomes to an audience of peers and community members.

Glocal Community in Elementary

In this unit, 2nd grade students will explore services and resources in their local community that are free for everyone.  Students will then research a resource or service of their choice to promote to their local and worldwide, or "glocal" communities.  Students may complete projects in their home languages to ensure they are comprehensible to their selected audiences.

The Global Water Crisis

Students will read ‘A Long Walk to Water’, research the global water crisis, learn about the SDGs and make connections to create a PSA about actionable solutions to the water crisis.

Global Wealth Inequality & Capitalism

This unit explores how SDGs, capitalism, and global inequality are related. Through examining four different global case studies, students will collaborate in groups to investigate global cases of exploitation. They will identify key quotes & data from the article and analyze them through the lenses of exploitation, capitalism, and SNG 10.
