Pilkington Prize 2025 | Alex Carter | 42 comments
I am thrilled to say that I have been awarded a Pilkington Prize for Teaching Excellence alongside many wonderful colleagues! This month also marks my 10th anniversary of teaching at the University of Cambridge, Institute of Continuing Education. Much has changed in a decade: I have helped in the design and development of new and innovative courses in Philosophy, Creativity Theory, and Research/Study Skills; global events have spurred enhancements in online delivery and learning with AI; and, most importantly, hundreds of my students have leveraged learning to change their lives and the lives of others. Many things have not changed: most notably, I still love teaching. I have loved teaching since the very first class I taught at the University of Essex; which came as a real surprise to me at the time! I only hope that my students have enjoyed it as much or, failing that, learned something. Indulgent, self-reflections aside, I am acutely aware that teaching is a team activity and for that reason I need to thank my teaching and administrative colleagues, my students past and present, and my wife. https://lnkd.in/eK_XQsBE | 42 comments on LinkedIn

CREATIVITY - CAN IT BE TAUGHT? — THE CAMBRIDGE CRITIQUE
Can you really teach creativity? Is it not an innate spontaneous quality? Is it not some ineffable spirit that simply is, and cannot be forced? But a study of creativity would say otherwise. And a pioneer pair of experienced teachers in Cambridge University has set up a study
