Currently looking for new clients! (Last update: 23.Mar.2025)
My name is Adam Wright, and I am offering online mathematics tutoring for $45/hr.
Contact me at Adam.A.Wright.1985@gmail.com
I have been a math tutor for over a decade, teaching:
Arithmetic
Problem Solving & Critical Thinking
Algebra
Geometry
Pre-Calculus and Introductory Calculus
I can assist in standardized testing prep for tests including the SAT, ACT, ISEE, and more!
I operate out of St. Louis, MO, meaning I work on Central Standard Time (CST).
I also have several years' experience developing curriculum on topics as diverse as:
basic problem-solving methods for arithmetic and algebra;
the laws of exponents, radicals, and logarithms;
graphing on the Cartesian and complex planes;
systems of equations;
combinatorics;
geometry, including trigonometry and using Pythagorean Theorem in both 2D and 3D space;
using and deriving functions;
quadratics, cubics, and rational functions;
Pascal's triangle and binomial theorem
and others!
Classes are held through the website BitPaper.io, which has both shared whiteboard capability and voice, webcam, and screen sharing capabilities. The website itself is free of charge to clients!
I charge $45 per hour, and I accept payment through Venmo, PayPal, and CashApp (in order of preference).
I'm available 7 days a week!
I will provide you with my current list of openings, but it is better to send me what times work best for you or your child.
My classes are typically an hour long, but you can request half-hour sessions as well. (I do not recommend longer sessions.)
I may be able to provide limited curriculum, with expanded capability over time as I continue to write new curriculum for you or other students.
It is recommended, but not required, to use a drawing tablet with the whiteboard. Huion and XP-PEN are two great options for inexpensive pen tablets.
Bitpaper's whiteboards are free to use as long as you do not attempt to start a call through the page; you can join calls already in progress, which I will start at the beginning of class. The website also requires you to create an account, for which I recommend simply using a Gmail account.Some tablet devices such as the iPad will work with the website perfectly, but others have issues.1. Learning mathematics can be fun and it's always nice to keep it that way, but it is also realistic to recognize that it can take a lot of effort. The effort spent to learn a new skill can be daunting, draining, and demoralizing. I value and respect your desire to improve.
2. Skills in an academic subject like math are very broad, and learning something like that requires knowing what is even necessary to learn. Finding the gaps in your knowledge, finding the weak points in your skillset, and learning what questions to ask, are the three most important tasks in learning mathematics. I will bolster your prior understanding, and provide strategies and tricks for problem-solving that will aid in your current and future lessons.
3. At the same time, particularly during the school year, grades are important. It does limited good, in the practical sense, to focus solely on the topics your school assumes you already know when they are already forging ahead. I will always make time in our classes to keep your head above water in your schoolwork.
4. With homework, extracurriculars, home-life obligations, and things like mandatory volunteer work that some schools require for graduation, I understand that time for tutoring comes at a premium. I will always respect your time to the best of my ability.
The project I'm most excited about right now is my YouTube project, where I am compiling some comprehensive basics as well as some of my favorite lessons to teach into videos, all presented by yours truly!
I have a Facebook page, where you can stay updated on new things I'm working on. You will see occasional challenge problems, brief presentations on odd topics that fascinate me, and updates on my other projects.
I intend to keep a log of all of the challenge problems I give out, and their solutions, on this page!
