Video Editing is a personal hobby of mine, and one that can uniquely engage students, teachers and give a chance to showcase students and help them feel like a rockstar! Here's a collection of some of the video projects I've worked on as an educator.
What's one way to engage students in learning about body systems?
How about a series of blind challenges across classrooms?
Inspired by the show Taskmaster, students across 4 classrooms have to complete 12 challenges for the ultimate prize: A bunch of icecream.
A short lived club, Viking Shorts was a way to let students learn the basics of video editing during virtual school. This particular promo video aired in classrooms during club week and involved programming snapchat's custom face filter to make the school mascot come to life.
This video was sent out to Biology students at the start of quarantine in March of 2020. The kids responded positively to it and it helped provide some levity during the start of a very stressfull time.
Upon returning to school in August of 2020, I collaborated with our campus technology coordinator to introduce faculty to their new resource for blended learning.
This video was led by a pair of freshman students who went above and beyond for a cellular models project. After their in class presentation, I helped guide them though recording their cellular model for posterity. One student was even able to reference the project on his college applications later on as a senior.
This video was my first time integrating my video editing skills in a school context. The students here were tasked with a boat building challenge at the end of the year and raced against the teachers. Check out the video to see who wins!
