Year 7

Our Y7 course aims to give our students the best possible foundation with which to start their journey in Chemistry.  It has been developed with a good balance of theory and practical work in mind.  

Students start by looking at how matter behaves, including changes in state.  We then move onto delving deeper into atoms and finding out what they are made of, and how the Periodic Table is arranged.  Next is how atoms interact to form compounds, with explanations of ionic, covalent and metallic bonding.  This is then applied to real life examples as we discover how compounds and mixtures differ.  At the end of the year we come back to the Periodic Table to discuss the trends that we can see.
