Safety

We believe that practical work is fundamental to good Chemistry education, and student safety is paramount at all times.

Safety is discussed with students before any practical work us undertaken, highlighting specific risks. A level students are supported to devise their own risk assessments, the link to CLEAPSS student safety sheets is further down this page. 

Students are reminded of our expectations regarding behaviour in a laboratory at the start of every year when each student is issued with a copy of our lab rules and asked to sign them.  A copy of these rules is below. If a student is seen not following these rules, by any member of the team, they will be asked to leave the laboratory  for the remainder of the practical, no second warnings are allowed.
