I was commissioned to create a Logo and business card based on a single sentence brief. I provided several iterations of the design based on the brief and used them to refine and streamline the design. Keeping in close contact with the Manager of the business, I kept in updates and creative choices. Any time there was a stylistic decision to be made, I ensured that the Manager was included and again provided several solutions based on their preferences.
During my time freelancing for S-can 3D, I was commissioned to create a logo for them. It had to use the same colour scheme as the previous logo and the same font, however, they wanted to update the logo to create a more modern aesthetic. I provided several different designs with various patterns and options, and used an iterative process to allow the manager to green-light each stage. We eventually chose this design as it was simplistic yet modern, and could easily be used for all aspects of their business, from embroidery on their uniforms to decals for their signs and vans.
This design went under several iterative stages, beginning with basic shapes where I placed a few core objects on the workspace and manipulated them to create a form I found created a relatively unique profile.
From that I made the basic shape which stayed throughout the process. For the first iteration (Top Left), I was aiming for something simple which defined my area of expertise, however after the background felt like it drew away from the core.
The second iteration (Bottom Left) featured the icon with some depth added, which made a more bold symbol however I felt it needed an identity.
The third iteration (Right) I found something which I could integrate into the main icon without detracting from the main shape. So I did some investigating and found the structure for a camera shutter to be ideal as it represented my interest and previous work with both still images and film, and it integrated well with the outer ring of the icon.
