Is my student eligible for the ACT Program?
The Adult Community Transition (ACT) program prepare students to move from high school to adult life (18-22 years of age), utilizing comprehensive transition planning and education that creates individualized opportunities, services, and supports to help students achieve their post-school goals in education/training, employment, and independent living.
Where will my student's class be?
This is determined by the ACT team at one of the following locations:
Tucker Campus
Select High School Campuses
*Nursing Services Available
Long Beach City College
Cal State Long Beach
How many students are there in each class?
Classes in the Adult Community Transition Program can have up to 18 students. One teacher and two instructional assistants. are assigned to a class.
What will my student's daily schedule look like?
Daily schedules are site and class-specific. Once assigned, please reach out to your student's teacher for information.
What curriculum does the ACT Program use?
The ACT Program uses a functional academics curriculum called Unique Learning System (ULS) to work on literacy and math skills while helping to further adult students' independent living skills.
What are the lunch options at ACT?
School lunches are provided by the District at District sites only.
There are opportunities for students to purchase lunch while out in the community. Teachers will provide parents and students with their weekly schedules so that families will be aware of when these opportunities are available.
Will transportation be available?
Determined by the IEP team based on unique needs and post-secondary goals.

Should I send my student to ESY (Summer School)?
Helps prepare students for the first day of Transition. Activities include:
Obtaining a school ID
Orientation to the community
Community safety information
Change of high school setting to a flexible environment
Functional Academics
Will my student still receive all of the services outlined in their IEP?
Yes
Does the ACT Program partner with outside agencies?
The ACT program works with families and the following agencies: Harbor Regional Center, Ability First, Department of Rehabilitation, and Department of Mental Health to provide student support during their participation in the program and once they exit.
