Special Issue Journal Track for Top Papers to be Published in BRM Journal

Behavioral Research Methods Special Issue

We are thrilled to announce that papers that exhibit highest levels of novelty and significance will be selected for a special issue to be published in Behavior Research Methods.

Practical Issues in Eye Tracking for Naturalistic Behaviors

Mobile eye tracking has great potential to shed light on human visual and cognitive behavior in natural settings. This special issue will focus on the need for the development of reliable, versatile and ergonomic wearable data collection systems that can perform robustly in challenging real-world conditions. The range of topics include general challenges in mobile eye tracking (e.g., eye-tracking accuracy and precision across environments and activities), use of head tracking technology and alternate world cameras, hardware/software integration, ergonomic design of integrated wearable devices, and extending their usability to a wider range of participant populations and experimental conditions.

The Process and Timeline

Accepted short papers that satisfy the selection criteria of novelty and significance will be invited to be extended as full papers for a Special Issue focused on the workshop topics. The extended work should show at least have 50% new material, analysis, and text compared to the version submitted to the ActivEye workshop. Per ACM guidelines, the extended submission "has been substantially revised (this generally means that at least 25% of the paper is material not previously published)", which our recommendation and requirements are higher than this number as mentioned below; Furthermore, the extended papers will have to follow the submission guidelines of the BRM journal and will undergo a blind peer review, consistent with standard practices of the Journal. We are also happy to announce Dr. Marcus Nystrom as the guest editor of the Special Issue. Please note that there is no guarantee in the acceptance of extended papers.
