Connecting a Roku device with TV is a simple process and requires no special skills. Anyone with some knowledge of TV-related terms can connect a Roku device with a television. Read this post till the end to understand the whole process of adding Roku to a TV.

Here's how you can connect a Roku device to your TV.

Follow each step carefully to make sure that you connect Roku to your TV on your first try.

Step 1: Connecting the Roku Device with TV

Firstly, your TV needs to have an HDMI 2.0 port. If it doesn't have an HDMI 2.0 port, it won't stream Roku TV.

Connect the Roku device's HDMI cable to the port on your TV. Most of the Roku devices come with an HDMI cable. However, if your Roku doesn't provide an HDMI cable, you have to purchase it separately. Roku streaming sticks plug directly into the TVs HDMI socket.

Step 2: Connecting the Ethernet Cable

Connect an Ethernet cable Roku device if you want to use a wired network connection. Both the Roku Ultra LT and Ultra come with an Ethernet port. You have to use a USB adapter to connect an Ethernet cable to your Roku streambar. If your Roku device has no Ethernet port, it can only connect via WiFi.

Step 3: Connecting your Roku device to a Power source

The next step is to provide your Roku device with a power source. You will need to connect the included power cable to your Roku device and plug it into the power source.

Roku Streaming Stick+, Roku Premiere, and The Roku Express require a TV USB port to get power. However, if your TV does not provide power to your Roku, you will have to use the power adapter.

Step 4: Choosing the right input

To complete this step, turn on the TV and the Roku device. On your TV screen, a list of all the input devices will appear. Choose the correct one, and your TV screen will show you the Roku company's logo if your choice was right.

Step: 5 Preparing the Roku Remote Control

Open your remote and place the two AA batteries inside. Once you put the batteries correctly, your Roku remote will automatically pair with the Roku device.

There is no way to set up your Roku device without a remote. If you lose it, you will have to purchase a new Roku remote.

Finishing this step means you have successfully physically connected the Roku device with your TV. Now, we have to set up the powered on Roku and TV.

Step 6: Selecting the Language

Roku will first ask you to choose your preferred language from the options on your TV screen. Use the up-down buttons on your Roku remote control to scroll through and select your preferred language. Press the "OK" button after selecting the language.

Step 7: Connecting to the Internet

Next, Roku will ask you to choose between Wired and Wireless for connecting to the Internet.

If you plugged in an Ethernet cable at the beginning, choose "Wired" and then select "Connect to a wired network."

If your Roku doesn't have an Ethernet port, your router is not close to the device, or you don't want to use the Ethernet cable, choose the "Wireless" option. Now, select "Set up new wireless connection." You will see several WiFi networks on your TV screen, select the one you want to use, and select "connect." If the TV screen doesn't show any available networks, select "scan" or check if your WiFi is off by mistake.

Step 8: Choosing the display settings

There's nothing you have to choose manually in this step. Roku will automatically find out the perfect resolution via your HDMI port. Just select "Auto-detect display type" and press "OK."

Now, you will see a pop-up box titled "About your HDMI connection" on your TV screen. It will tell you about the resolution of your HDMI connection. From the three options down below, select "Force output to automatic," and that's it. Now, you can start enjoying the Roku streaming services right on your TV.
