Åva Gymnasium is an eTwinning and Erasmus accredited upper-secondary school.
There are several eTwinning, Erasmus+ and Nordplus projects in which different groups of students and teachers are involved. The Social Science programme is also involved in Model UN activities. The school also cooperates with Amnesty International in their annual Write for Rights campaign.
Around 1400 students attend either a theoretical or a vocational study programme at Åva Gymnasium: Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Economy, Technology, International Baccalaureate, Electrician, Restaurant service, Healthcare. The students are between the ages of 16 and 19. Students are part of a rather homogenous, socio-economically stable, mostly ethnically Swedish community. However, the IB programme students, the target group in this project, are a more ethnically and socio-economically eclectic group than the rest of the students in the school. Most of the students have non-European origins (Middle East, Asia, South America) or have joined the programme after seeking asylum in Sweden because of international conflicts. These students follow an international curriculum and study all their subjects in English. Most of these IB students are in the process of integrating into Swedish society and intend to continue their higher education in Sweden or other EU countries.
We are a small school with around 350 students.
Our broad first grade offers an A curriculum (focus on academic/theoretical skills) and a B curriculum (practice oriented).
The A-curriculum comes with two options: 'Modern Languages and Sciences' or 'Economics and Organization'. The B-curriculum comes with a standard package of economic subjects.
In second grade and third grade, our school offers the following fields of study:
- "academic orientation": Business Studies (option IT or option Languages)
- "twofold orientation (both academic and professionally oriented)": Business and Organisation, Language and Communication, IT, Marketing
- "Professional orientation": Organization and logistics
Our school has students aged 12 to 19.
We have experience in eTwinningprojects and Erasmus+ projects.
Our Liceo consists of three study courses. Liceo Scientifico Tradizionale, Liceo delle Scienze Applicate and Liceo Linguistico.
The scientific high school curriculum is geared towards the study of the link between scientific culture and the humanistic tradition. It encourages the acquisition of the knowledge and methods of mathematics, physics and natural sciences.
The "applied sciences" option provides students with particularly advanced skills in studies relating to scientific-technological culture, with particular reference to mathematical, physical, chemical, biological and earth sciences, information technology and their applications.
The Liceo linguistico is geared towards the study of several language and cultural systems. There are two sections, one for English, French and Chinese and the other for English, German and Spanish in order to acquire communicative mastery in three modern languages in various social contexts and professional situations.
The school has been promoting numerous exchanges with students from foreign schools for years. It is therefore experienced in the procedural and practical organisation of an exchange with students. Several eTwinning projects and 3 Erasmus projects have been approved in the last 7 years.
