"Hello, I’m Mike Roberto, Superintendent of the Aurora City Schools, here to share some summer updates concerning the 2024-2025 school year as well as provide the latest on our potential new construction and bond issue.
Bond Issue
Last night the Aurora Board of Education officially approved a resolution to place a 7.56 Mill Bond Issue on the November 2024 ballot. The bond issue will raise approximately $136 million dollars for the construction of a new high school, renovations for Miller, Leighton, Harmon, and the current high school, removal of the 100-plus-year-old Craddock Elementary building, and upgrades to our Campus property as a whole.

We will be holding a number of Community Information Nights at the ACSD Conference Center towards the end of September and October. The goal is provide multiple opportunities for the Aurora community to learn and ask questions about the bond issue.

There will also be
October 28th - November 1st - Online Lunch and Learn about the Levy 12:00-12:30 p.m. daily with ACSD Treasurer Bill Volosin & Superintendent Mike Roberto.
We also have plans to meet with community groups such as Rotary, School Foundation, and the Chamber of Commerce, touch base with senior citizens through meetings at the Walker Building as well as visits to various senior assisted living facilities, and hold meetings in various developments around the city.
The goal is to provide as much information as possible and answer any questions one may have concerning the bond issue so that all Aurora community members will be able to make an informed decision concerning the bond issue going into election day.
2024-2025 School Year
Shifting gears to the fast approaching 2024-2025 school year, I wanted to be sure to share a few important dates to get on your RADAR.
Week of 7/22 - Band Camp!
Week of 7/29 - First Day of Fall Sports Practices (See Final Forms)
8/14 - Grades 6-12 Schedule and Chromebook Pick-Up
8/19 - New Student Orientation
8/20 - First day of school for all students 6-12 and
K-5 students with last names beginning with A-L.
K-5 students with last name beginning with M-Z stay home
8/21 First day of school for K-5 students with last names
beginning with M-Z.
K-5 students with last names beginning with A-L stay home.
8/22 All K-5 students report to school
