HANG ON!
3DFX wrapper instructions: To play the game, you need a 3DFX wrapper, which is already set up in the main folder. It's called "dgVoodoo." As a default, it opens in windowed mode. You can double-click "dgVoodooCpl" in the main folder to customize the options to fit your screen resolution. Another great 3DFX wrapper is nGlide, which you can download here. If you choose to install nGlide, you will then need to remove the following files from the game's main folder: dgVoodoo, dgVoodooCpl, and glide2x.dll. Place these somewhere else on your computer in case you'd like to use them again.
WHEEL COMPATIBILITY: See the Classic Papyrus Discord server if you need help getting your wheel to work.
GAME FEATURES
TRACKS: All of the tracks that could be found from the old days along with some improvements made by the community over the years.
CALENDARS: Schedules for the entire '90s decade are available.
PIT WINDOWS: Since there is no wear multiplier option, the Winston Cup tracks have shorter pit windows to allow for pick-up-and-play, one-pit-stop, shorter races. If you want to know the pit window at a track, accelerate time at the race-weekend menu and see when the A.I. pits. You can learn about customizing the pit windows here.
SETTINGS: These are two separate games that use completely different versions of tracks, so you will have to customize your settings and track files for both games.
KNOWN BUGS
If a racetrack becomes "distorted," hitting the ESC key and re-joining the race fixes the problem. This is rare.
The game does not like ALT+TAB. Thankfully, the game has a SAVE feature where you can save your race and come back and pick up where you left off.
If your mouse doesn't access the top of the screen in Driver Info, you can go to the Quick Race screen to select cars or trucks, and those will be the active selection when you revisit Driver Info. Not sure what causes this or what randomly fixes it sometimes. Pretty sure it's just an nGlide problem.
Wall graphics at certain tracks are blurry/distorted.
The mouse can be tricky sometimes, depending on which 3DFX wrapper you use. Your mouse will typically be "off the screen" in the bottom right-hand corner. Slowly move your mouse top-left, and the pointer will appear.
When using dgVoodoo, you will see red "ghosting" of the needles on the gauges.
If you don't exit the game properly, it will still be running as a background process.
NASCAR Racing 2: Post-race screens have artifacts from N99. "Ok" and "Cancel" on the Championship start screen are corrupted (my fault).
WHY DID IT CRASH?
You may need a t_player car file in your cars folder if it crashes when you click "New Driver."
You don't have a cars.dat or trucks.dat file in their respective folders.
You have OPPONENTS DRAWN maxed out at 39 and 39. Don't do that.
The CARS and TRUCKS folders can only hold a maximum of 128 car files.
The TRACKS folder can only hold a maximum of 60 tracks.
A CALENDAR file can only hold a maximum of 40 events.
You've set the REPLAYLEN too high. Read more here.
It doesn't result in a crash, but if you have the max field size number too high or don't know how to handle two pit roads when editing the field size, it will cause problems. Read about it here.
See the Discord server for other troubleshooting.
